CRAFFT+N-SBIRT in Schools Screening Tool

Use this resource for conducting SBIRT in Schools in Massachusetts. The CRAFFT is a validated substance use screening tool for adolescents aged 12-21. It is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Bright Futures Guidelines for preventive care screenings and well-visits. This version has been adapted and reproduced by MASBIRT TTA with permission from the Center for Adolescent Behavioral Health Research (CABHRe). This resource is translated into 28 languages and can be used with students for whom English is not their primary language. This may assist the student to gain a better understanding of the questions being asked in English. It can also be used by an interviewer conducting SBIRT in another language. It is not recommended for use when a student is non-English speaking and the interviewer is not able to conduct the conversation in the student’s primary language. Translation services would be warranted to complete SBIRT.
